Background checks are commons with parents concerned about their child’s new partner, persons/companies looking to assess whether to pursue an individual personally and gain an understanding of their asset position, pre-employment, are a few.
They can overlap to an extent. Traces are generally designed to find people for a variety of reasons. Background checks are useful for ascertaining as much information about an individual for a variety of reasons.
This depends on the circumstances. In cases involving estranged family members or past relationships, the answer is usually no—we respect the wishes of the person traced. However, we will explain the situation to you clearly and may pursue follow-up enquiries with the traced individual to provide you with some answers where appropriate. We adopt a ‘case by case’ approach with this as the matters are often very delicate.
We will assess this with you when you engage us. You’ll need to confirm whether a protection order exists to ensure we are not enabling any breaches of the law. What you choose to declare is taken seriously—if a breach occurs, criminal responsibility rests with you.
Absolutely. Once we’ve located the individual, we can advise you of the address and provide a clear outline of the fees for personal service.
Process serving
Absolutely. We also welcome your enquiries, as we understand there can be a lot of emotional investment in the service of documents.
This is very common. Our team is well trained in a wide range of techniques and approaches to give you the best possible chance of having documents served, even if the recipient is deliberately trying to avoid being found.
This can happen, which is why we strongly encourage our clients to do as much homework as possible before lodging service. If we visit an address, a service fee is triggered even if the person has already moved. We’ll make enquiries to try and obtain forwarding information to assist with locating their new residence, but please note that any subsequent visits to a new address will trigger another fee. We’d recommend our tracing process if you need to establish where the person(s) are currently living.
No problem! Our team is experienced at ensuring notices are brought to the recipient’s attention and will serve them in a legal manner regardless (if appropriate).
Per fee, we’ll make a minimum of 3 attempts. Often, if we’re in the area we’ll keep a look out for any changes at the property if locating and serving the individual is proving difficult.
Yes, as people have differing routines, workhours and other factors, we’ll purposefully vary the times of our visits to ensure the best chance of achieving service.

We can form the best strategy for successful service, or we can work with your preferences. When it comes to reporting the service, we can update you on each successful serve or report at the conclusion.
Our agents’ safety is always a priority, but our team are experienced and comfortable making hard decisions under pressure so will do all possible to serve your documents. If the risk becomes too great, we’ll discuss it with you and establish if there is an alternative option (e.g. trying to serve with another of our agents or changing the approach). If we can’t guarantee our agents safety, we’ll advise of next possible steps or options available to you.

Surveillance
Absolutely. Photographs, videos, and other relevant material are included in our reporting.
That depends on what you’re trying to achieve. In some cases, one stint of surveillance is enough. In others, particularly where a consistent pattern of behaviour needs to be proven, surveillance may need to be conducted over a longer period.
This depends on the circumstances. Often, a single investigator is sufficient. However, in more complex situations we may involve a team of two, three, or even four investigators to achieve the best outcome.
Years of training allow us to blend into the environment and avoid detection. We also have tools and resources that enable us to conduct surveillance remotely if needed.
