We take your privacy extremely seriously. All our personal safety advice is delivered confidentially and tailored to your specific needs.

Can you sweep a home or office for bugs or trackers?

Monitoring without consent is illegal. Our first recommendation is to speak with the Police. If you don’t receive a sufficient response, we can assist by conducting our own investigation.

Tracing

Can you trace someone if they don’t want to be found?

Yes, we have a range of covert options available to us to try and locate persons that are not wanting to be located.

Who typically uses tracing services?

Everyone! We regularly work with lawyers in relation to debt owed, private individuals for a variety of reasons and of course private companies.

How does it work?

You’ll provide us with as much (or as little) information as you have about the person you’re trying to find. We’ll then exhaust the enquiries available to us and report back with our findings.

Can you help locate the person if I don’t know where they live?

Absolutely. That’s exactly what tracing is, and our expert team has a proven record of success in locating people for service.

Do I need to provide a physical address for the recipient?

Not always. If you have a phone number or email, we will attempt to engage and encourage the person to meet us for service. However, a physical address naturally provides a much better opportunity for service. If you don’t know their current address and can’t locate it, we offer a “trace and serve” process, where we first trace the individual and then organise service of the documents.

What if the person is avoiding service?

This is very common. Our team is well trained in a wide range of techniques and approaches to give you the best possible chance of having documents served, even if the recipient is deliberately trying to avoid being found.

What if the person has moved?

This can happen, which is why we strongly encourage our clients to do as much homework as possible before lodging service. If we visit an address, a service fee is triggered even if the person has already moved. We’ll make enquiries to try and obtain forwarding information to assist with locating their new residence, but please note that any subsequent visits to a new address will trigger another fee. We’d recommend our tracing process if you need to establish where the person(s) are currently living.

How does the process serving procedure work?

We make it as simple as possible! You can head to our upload page and follow the instructions of what we need. If you’d rather reach out on phone or email, that’s fine too! We’ll make it as simple as possible! We just need to know who the documents are for, where they need to be served and provided with the documents for serving and we’ll do the rest.During the service attempts, we’ll keep you updated and let you know when it’s completed (or if there are any issues with completing service). If you don’t know where they live, have a look at our tracing page to see how we can help you

What if I only have partial information about the person (like just a workplace or vehicle)?

That is absolutely, fine, we can do some work with workplace and registrations and provide you with options to consider the best method at service.

What if they’ve moved or I don’t know where they live?

If they’ve moved, our process servers will make enquiries to try and gain any insight to where they’ve gone. If we can’t find any new leads, or their address is not known from the beginning, we’d recommend a trace service to locate a new address.

Process serving

Can you serve the person after tracing them?

Absolutely. Once we’ve located the individual, we can advise you of the address and provide a clear outline of the fees for personal service.

Do you guarantee that the person will be served?

Unfortunately, no. What we do guarantee is outstanding service, effort, and energy in the process of attempting service.

What happens if the recipient avoids service?

With substituted service, the process can still move forward. Of course, we do everything possible to serve the person directly, but deliberate avoidance can happen.

Can you apply for substituted service if the person cannot be located?

Absolutely. Our reports will provide the supporting information needed to give your lawyer the best chance of securing a substituted service order through the Court.

What happens if service cannot be completed?

This can occur from time to time, despite our best efforts. If it does, our reports and supporting commentary will provide you with the necessary information to make a decision on tracing the individual or considering an application for substituted service.

Will you keep me updated during the process?

Definitely. We know there can be significant emotional investment in these matters, so we make sure to keep you up to date.

Do I need to be present when documents are served?

No, that’s what we’re here for. Once service is completed, we can update you by call, text, or email—whichever you prefer. There is no need for you to be present.

What information do I need to provide to arrange service?

A name, an address, and the documents to be served are enough for us to get started. However, we encourage you to provide as much detail as possible about the recipient (and ideally a photo), as this greatly increases the chances of locating and serving them quickly.

Surveillance

What happens if the subject spots you?

In the unlikely event that we are spotted or approached; our true purpose will never be disclosed. We remain professional and discreet in all circumstances.[SURVEILLANCE]

What equipment do you use?

We have access to specialist equipment, including high-resolution digital cameras and a variety of covert techniques, tailored to the needs of each job.

How much does surveillance cost?

Several factors influence cost, including your objectives, the duration of surveillance, and the number of investigators required. We recommend contacting us with an overview of your situation so we can provide a tailored recommendation.

What if I have been served a protection order —can you still do surveillance on the protected person?

Absolutely not. We will never engage in any activity that amounts to a breach (direct or indirect) of a Protection Order. If the circumstances are such that the surveillance won’t breach the conditions of the order, we’ll carefully assess this and work with you as best possible.

What factors affect the cost of surveillance?

The cost depends largely on the circumstances. Significant travel will increase costs, and if the subject employs counter-surveillance measures, additional investigators may be required. Both factors naturally raise the overall cost. Understanding your position in more detail will help us provide a better quote.

What happens if the subject changes their routine?

No problem. We’ll adapt and discuss any last-minute changes with you as they occur.

How do you keep me updated during the operation?

We’ll discuss your needs and expectations at the outset and agree on a schedule of updates that keeps you informed while allowing us to carry out the work effectively. At an entry level, we’ll usually verbally update you during / immediately after and then a written report will follow.

Can you do surveillance on vehicles or workplaces?

Yes, both are possible, depending on the circumstances.

Can you track someone’s movements electronically?

It depends on the situation. Get in touch with us to discuss what’s possible and lawful in your case.

Will the evidence stand up in court?

Yes, it will. In addition, our investigators have extensive experience giving evidence in Court, so you can be confident it will be presented professionally when it matters.

Do you provide a certificate or report I can use for official purposes (e.g., employment, tenancy)?

Absolutely. You’ll receive a verified Ministry of Justice certificate that can be used for official purposes.

Are the results confidential, or can the person being checked find out?

The person being checked will be notified, since they are required to provide consent. However, your copy of the results remains confidential to you.

What are the costs for different levels of checks?

Our standard criminal history checks cost $65 + GST. We’ll begin the process as soon as payment is received.

What information do I need to provide to request a check?

Please see our criminal history page for full details. At a minimum, you’ll need the individual’s consent, along with their name, address, date of birth, and a few other identifying details.

Yes, they will already know, because their consent is required before we can proceed.

Can you access overseas criminal history?

In some cases, yes. We are connected with investigators all over the world and can make enquiries with certain countries if you believe there may be relevant information in someone’s overseas background.

Are criminal history checks accurate and up to date?

Yes, but keep in mind they only cover offences that haven’t yet resulted in a conviction (e.g. active cases before the Courts).

Can you check someone’s criminal record without their consent?

No, you can’t. Consent is required.

What is a criminal history check?

We have an agreement with the Ministry of Justice that allows us (with an individual’s consent) to obtain their criminal history. This can be incredibly useful before entering into a business or employment relationship with someone you don’t know well.

Absolutely. Especially when conducted by licensed investigators, like us, under the Ministry of Justice.

What if the person I want traced doesn’t want contact with me? Will you still give me their address?

This depends on the circumstances. In cases involving estranged family members or past relationships, the answer is usually no—we respect the wishes of the person traced. However, we will explain the situation to you clearly and may pursue follow-up enquiries with the traced individual to provide you with some answers where appropriate. We adopt a ‘case by case’ approach with this as the matters are often very delicate.

Do I need to prove my relationship to the person I’m tracing?

We will assess this with you when you engage us. You’ll need to confirm whether a protection order exists to ensure we are not enabling any breaches of the law. What you choose to declare is taken seriously—if a breach occurs, criminal responsibility rests with you.

How do you legally access information to locate people?

Operating within legal parameters is very important to us. We have access to databases and resources that assist us in conducting thorough and lawful traces.

General questions

How accurate is the information provided?

The information is sourced directly from the official NZTA database and is highly accurate at the time of the search.

Do you guarantee success in making contact?

While we cannot guarantee contact, we guarantee a high level of professional effort, using varied approach times and methods to maximise the chance of success.

What are the common challenges in serving documents?

The biggest challenge is lack of information. The more detail you can provide, the better our chances of success. Photos, vehicle descriptions or registration numbers, and knowledge of known routines are all extremely helpful. Sometimes the available window for service is very limited, so the more information we have, the more effective we can be.

Is everything I tell you kept confidential?

It sure is, we understand the nature of our business and for a variety of reasons the necessity to take absolute care with the information we’re provided.

Do you work with lawyers directly, or can individuals hire you too?

Both! We work lawyers who operate on behalf of individuals, corporates and also directly with individuals as well.

Are your investigators licensed?

If we miss you, send a follow up text and we’ll get back to you. We appreciate there can be urgency or unexpected events that need attention immediately.
